Hungduan Rice Terraces

The Hungduan Rice Terraces are stepped farm slopes cut into the mountains, linked by footpaths and hillside trails with long climbs and sharp descents. The scenery is a working landscape all the way, from the terraces to the villages and ridgelines, so routes feel natural for trail running.

The rice terraces hosted part of the Last Stand of Yamashita trail run, an ITRA-certified race tracing the Japanese army's final stand in the Philippines during World War II. Running an event here shows that the terraces and surrounding trails can support a demanding, organised mountain race in a heritage terrain.
